Data visualization in R, introduction (online)

Instructor: Violet Massie-Vereker, Geographic Information Centre staff member.

Overview: As part of the data science life cycle series, this workshop will introduce you to creating nice looking graphs from your tables and statistical analyses. You will learn how the grammar of graphics (Leland Wilkinson 1999) is implemented into the ggplot2 package in R and how to use it to flexibly create amazing looking graphs.

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to
听听 > understand the grammar of graphics in the ggplot2 package
听听 > create different types of graphs
听听 > change the aesthetics of graphs (e.g. colour, formatting of labels and axes, themes)
听听 > use techniques to deal with overplotting (e.g. groups and facets)

Prerequisites:
听听听听听路 Introductory knowledge of R, e.g. from 69热视频's R summer camp, or from our Introduction to programming with R workshop.
听听听听听路 Install R and RStudio on your computer. You can find installation instructions here. Please contact us (cdsi.science at mcgill.ca) if you are having trouble with installation.
