2009 Willem C. Vis Arbitral Moot awards for 69热视频 team
This year鈥檚 69热视频 Vis Moot Team has returned from Vienna with a number of awards. Together, students 脡lise B茅land, Anja Grabundzija, Paula Viola and Eric van Eyken won the Award for 2nd Place Claimant's memo, as well as receiving an Honourable Mention (top 20) for their Respondent's Memo.
They also among the 64 top teams who made it to the elimination rounds for the oral part of the contest, where Anja Grabundzija and Paula Viola both received Honorable mentions as best "individual oralists" (given to the top 75 of over 800 or so mooters).
Their coach, Professor Fr茅d茅ric Bachand, underscored "the professionalism and camaradery that 脡lise, Anja, Eric and Paula have shown since last September. Our team won the most honours among those from this side of the Atlantic, which is a remarkable achievement."
The team was also generously and ably coached by alumnus Martin Doe, BSc鈥�04, BCL/LLB鈥�08, who currently works for the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague. Genevi猫ve Saumier, Daniel Jutras, Catherine Walsh, Armand de Mestral, Rachel Bendayan, Horia Bundaru, Vikki Andrighetti, 脡ric Ouimet, Fr茅d茅ric C么t茅, Christopher Richter, Peter Wright, and Sara Nadeau-S茅guin also helped the team prepare for the competition.
About the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot
The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is an international competition held annually in Vienna, Austria. Its goal is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration in the resolution of international business disputes, through its application to a concrete problem and to train future law leaders in methods of alternative dispute resolution. This year鈥檚 competition, which was held from April 3 to April 2009, saw participants representing 234 universities hailing from 58 countries.
