The 2022 Scholastic Awards Reception on November 8th recognized more than 175 outstanding Macdonald undergraduate and graduate students. The Faculty awarded over $380,000 in named scholarships at the undergraduate level and more than $465,000 in fellowships and awards at the graduate level.

The Board of Governors of 69热视频 is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. H. Deep Saini as the University's 18th Principal and Vice-Chancellor. Currently President and Vice-Chancellor at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Prof. Saini will begin his five-year, renewable term at 69热视频 on April 1, 2023. He will also hold the appointment of Full Professor in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

Standing at the podium surrounded by 1,500 people on the John Abbott football field, Joe Maxwell, gazed up into the sunny November sky and said 鈥淚t鈥檚 good to be alive.鈥

A 97-year-old WWII vet, Maxwell was one of the special guests at the November 3 Remembrance Day ceremony featuring veterans and dignitaries who spoke, recited poetry or contributed with music. Anja Geitmann, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, addressed the crowd, and Defne Helvacioglu, Macdonald Campus Student Society President, recited the poem Nameless.

To better understand food-related decisions during the pandemic, our research team conducted an online survey among a sample of adults from the province of Qu茅bec. This survey spanned three different time points between the initial lockdown in the spring of 2020 and the curfew period in Qu茅bec in the winter of 2021.

With an investment of nearly $1 million from the Government of Canada, the Association of Veterinary Practitioners of Quebec will be able to develop a digital tool to anticipate and reduce the risks associated with metabolic diseases in dairy cows which are a major health problem, especially in the post-calving period. Every day for the past 18 years, Natasha Lapointe has been showing up for work at the Dairy Unit at Macdonald Campus Farm at 5 am. Luckily, she has a short commute.

鈥淲e live on campus (on the farm site) just a two-minute walk from the dairy barn,鈥 says Lapointe, this year鈥檚 winner of the Principal鈥檚 Award for Administrative and Support Staff in the Technical, Library Assistants and Nurses Category.

L'脡picerie recently featured Rosemarie Allen (B.Sc.(AgEnvSc)鈥12) and Jacob Morin (FMT鈥11) of Ferme Le Paysan Gourmand in Saint-F茅lix-de-Kingsey who participate in an on-farm program to reduce food waste. The episode follows Meilleur Apr猫s volunteers who harvest produce that would have remained in the field. Produce harvested is then shared between the participants, the producer and Meilleur Apr猫s 鈥 who in turn redistribute the produce to organizations in the region or transform it into products that are then sold to finance operations.
