About our guest

Aruna Roy聽is an Indian political and social activist who founded the聽Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan聽(MKSS) along with Shankar Singh, Nikhil Dey and many others.聽The MKSS began by fighting for fair and equal wages for workers which shaped and evolved into a struggle for the enactment of India's Right to Information Act. Aruna Roy is a leader of the聽Right to Information聽movement in India through the MKSS and the聽National Campaign for People鈥檚 Right to Information (NCPRI), which was finally successful with the passage of the聽Right to Information Act聽in 2005.

This event is co-organized by the 69热视频 Institute for the Study of International Development (ISID). Aruna Roy is currently in residence at 69热视频 as a Professor of Practice in Global Governance hosted by ISID.
