Good news: Three faculty members elected to the International Academy of Comparative Law

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that three of its faculty members are among the successful candidates in the recent elections of the International Academy of Comparative Law (). Professor Lara Khoury has been elected a titular member, while Professor Adelle Blackett and Professor Vincent Forray have been elected as associate members.

Associate Professor Khoury is an expert in the fields of comparative medical, public health and environmental law, with a particular focus on liability issues. She joined the Faculty of Law as a Boulton Fellow in 2000 before becoming an assistant professor in 2002. Professor Khoury is an associate member of the Institute for Health & Social Policy and a convener of 69热视频鈥檚 Research Group on Health and Law. She served as associate dean (research) from 2015 to 2017. She is also a member of the Paul-Andr茅 Cr茅peau Centre for Private and Comparative Law. Professor Khoury is the sole titular member elected by the IACL from Canada this year.

Professor Blackett, Ad. E., BCL鈥94, LLB鈥94, holds the Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Transnational Labour Law and Development. She teaches and researches in the areas of labour and employment law, trade regulation, law and development, critical race theory, and slavery and the law. Recently, she published a monograph titled Everyday Transgressions: Domestic Workers鈥 Transnational Challenge to International Labour Law (Cornell University Press, 2019). A member of the Paul-Andr茅 Cr茅peau Centre for Private and Comparative Law, Professor Blackett is the director and network convener for the Labour Law and Development Research Laboratory.

Associate Professor Forray joined the Faculty of Law in 2011. Promoted to associate professor in 2017, he conducts critical transsystemic research in contract law, torts, civil law of obligations and consumer law, and he teaches legal theory, contractual obligations, and foundational civil law courses. Professor Forray has been director of the Paul-Andr茅 Cr茅peau Center for Private and Comparative Law since 2018. In 2017, he co-authored the monograph D茅crire le droit鈥 et le transformer and he is the co-founder of Jurisprudence鈥擱evue critique.
