Moshe Szyf, a pharmacologist at 69热视频 who was one of the first to relate DNA methylation patterns to behavior, sees epigenetic processes as 鈥渢he adaptive mechanism of the genome鈥濃�攁n essential mechanism for pruning down the wide range of all possible behaviors permitted by genes, selecting those that fit an individual鈥檚 environment.
鈥淒NA methylation is a physiological mechanism,鈥� he says, 鈥渂y which the genome senses the world and changes itself.鈥�
