World congress on suicide prevention in Montreal

69热视频 researchers will present their most recent findings on suicide prevention at the (IASP) which will take place at UQAM from June 16-20, 2015.

鈥淲e identified that each communities has specific needs and cultural values that demand specific interventions to meet their needs. There is no one size fits all intervention in suicide prevention with First Nations and Inuit communities.鈥
鈥 Eduardo Chachmovich

Expert: Eduardo Chachamovich, assistant professor of Psychiatry at 69热视频 and psychiatrist and research at the Douglas Institute
Expertise: His work focuses mainly on social and clinical determinants of mental health in Aboriginal populations. He is also interested in exploring adequate strategies to develop valid and culturally-appropriate measures for mental disorders.
He鈥檒l be the chair on a session titled, 鈥楶romising Practices on Suicide Prevention in Circumpolar Regions鈥 during the IASP Montreal 2015 from 2:30 PM 鈥 4:00 PM, Friday, June 19, 2015 at UQAM.

Expertise: Her expertise is on non-suicidal self-injury in youth and young adults. She also does work on enhancing mental health in schools. Currently she鈥檚 part of a number of projects around looking at risk and protective factors in youth and young adults in secondary and university settings.

Expertise: He conducts research on mental health services for immigrants and refugees, psychiatry in primary care, the mental health of indigenous peoples (First Nations, Inuit and M茅tis), and the anthropology of psychiatry.
He will attend the session on 鈥楽uicide Prevention with Indigenous People鈥, Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 2:30 PM 鈥 4:00 PM.
