Islamic Studies : Introduction to the script and sounds of modern standard Arabic and its basic vocabulary and structure, placing emphasis on the functional use of the language.

Students who participate at this level have no previous knowledge of the language or have a basic cultural or home connection to Arabic.
Prerequisite: Department placement test, instructor approval.
