Professor Darmon is among 188 scholars to receive fellowships, from a pool of almost 3,000 applicants 鈥 鈥渁 distinguished and diverse group of culture-creators working across 52 disciplines,鈥 according to the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation press statement.

On a cloudy afternoon this past December, a group of 69热视频 students gathered in a downtown Montr茅al boardroom to give a data science presentation to Citera, a sustainability analytics company. This presentation wasn鈥檛 for an internship or any other extracurricular activity 鈥 it was part of one of 69热视频鈥檚 newest and most innovative courses:听MATH 527, Statistical Data Science Practicum.

While machine learning papers are written at a staggering rate, there is much less foundational mathematical work that addresses the success of machine learning.

In Rustum Choksi鈥檚 courses he emphasizes a pedagogical paradigm shift, whereby mathematics is not about memorization nor symbolic manipulations and calculations but rather a beautiful and diverse discipline which is often a means to understanding our complex world.
